When comparing paint protection film (PPF) services, the numbers can vary – sometimes dramatically. One shop quotes £2,000, another quotes £6,000 for what looks like the same coverage. But pricing alone doesn’t explain what’s actually being delivered – or what corners may be cut.

We routinely use pre-cut patterns – they offer precision and efficiency, especially with newer-generation GYEON PPF systems. But we rarely install them as-is. We modify, extend, or edit patterns to suit the vehicle’s panel shapes, eliminate weak points, and achieve proper coverage.
If a section calls for more wrap depth, a hidden edge, or a better seam position, the pattern gets adjusted – not compromised. That’s especially important for satin finishes, where visible edges can’t be disguised with gloss.
In some cases, we use bulk material where it offers better coverage or a more seamless result. This is often necessary when no pattern exists – for rare, modified, or classic vehicles – but it can also be the best approach for specific panels that present fitment challenges.
Bulk installation allows flexibility in edge placement, minimising joins or stretch in complex areas. It demands a different skill set and a high level of control. We don’t bulk-fit everything – we use it where experience tells us it will give a better result.
We don’t remove panels unless absolutely necessary. What we do remove – selectively – are trims or components that interfere with clean film placement or introduce risk of contamination during install.
This reduces tension on the film, helps prevent lifting or bubbling, and ensures a more secure edge. It’s not about over-engineering – it’s about doing what’s required to reduce failure points before they become an issue.
The cost of a high-end PPF install reflects more than film and time. It reflects the depth of prep, the control during install, and the level of support that follows.
